Evil Dead Remake Logo

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

Yeah, I’m not too thrilled about them remaking The Evil Dead either. It was “basically” remade when Sam Raimi shot Evil Dead 2. Anyhow….I guess Hollywood will continue to remake classic after classic.

What we have here is the new logo for the film. It’s a cool logo, as it contains the late 70’s/early 80’s horror-grundge feel. But the look/font/design should have been used for an entirely different and original film. Also….it’s missing “the” in the title. What do you think?

Nike MAG – Back to the Future Sneaker

Thursday, September 8th, 2011

“500 pairs of the 2011 NIKE MAG will be auctioned on eBay with all net proceeds going directly to The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Each day for the duration of the ten-day auction, one hundred and fifty pairs of the 2011 NIKE MAG shoes will be made available via eBay’s Fashion Vault. The auction starts September 8, 2011 a, 8:30PM PST, and will end September 18. Thanks to a previous 50 million dollar match given to the Michael J. Fox Foundation, all donations will be matched, effectively doubling the contributions from the auction.”

“The original NIKE MAG was worn by the Back to the Future character Marty McFly, played by Michael J. Fox, in the year 2015. It came alive, lit up and formed to Marty’s foot. The 2011 NIKE MAG shoe was designed to be a precise replica of the original from Back to the Future Part II. The aesthetic is an exact match, down to the contours of the upper, the glowing LED panel and the electroluminescent NIKE in the strap. The 2011 NIKE MAG illuminates with the pinch of the “ear” of the high top, glowing for five hours per charge.”

The Thing Prequel

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011

Universal has recently released a poster for their upcoming and unnecessary The Thing prequel. Since Carpenter’s classic is one of my favorite horror films, I suppose a prequel is better than a direct remake (the irony being that Carpenter’s classic is a remake). But what happens if the prequel does well and they want to make another? Will a direct remake of John Carpenter’s film be made? Will they make a prequel of the prequel? Will they remake the prequel? My brain hurts just thinking about it.

However, I must admit the poster is pretty damn cool. But still not as cool as the original…

World War Z Set Photos

Tuesday, July 5th, 2011

Looks like the World War Z film is well under way. The film, based upon Max Brooks‘ brilliant zombie book stars Brad Pitt and will be released in 2012.  ”Rather than a grand overview or narrative, World War Z is a collection of individual accounts in the form of first-person anecdote. Brooks plays the role of an agent of the United Nations Postwar Commission who published the report a decade after the Zombie War. The United Nations left out much of his work from the official report, choosing to focus on facts and figures from the war rather than the individual stories that form the bulk of Brooks’ novel. The interviews chart a decade-long war against zombies from the view point of many different people of various nationalities. The personal accounts also describe the changing religious, geo-political, and environmental aftermath of the Zombie War.”

A Haunting in Salem

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Currently filming in California and nearing the end of production is a new horror film called A Haunting in Salem. The film is about a new sheriff that arrives in Salem, Massachusetts and soon discovers that he is the victim of a centuries-old curse. He now must protect his family from the vengeful ghosts that torment his home. Kyle (Nicholas Harsin) and Ali (Jenna Stone) struggle as their father Sheriff Downs (Bill Oberst Jr) and mother (Courtney Abbiati) fight to keep their family alive. The film is directed by directed by horror vet Shane Van Dyke.

I am told the script is very creepy and it’s being shot old-school with very few special effects (apart from being filmed in 3D) in a 200 year old mansion in Pasadena, CA.! The film will be released August 23 at select screenings and on DVD + Blu-Ray.
Starring in the film as the sheriff’s son is Nicholas Harsin, who was kind enough to send in a couple behind the scenes photos prior to release. Enjoy!
